Art Averill invited us to stay at the Sandusky Sailing Club. You've got to love a club that has stuck to its roots: Sailing. Club is all sail boats except for a couple of race committee boats. It has a massive dry sail area that is a full concrete pad, 2 hoists and a dinghy launch ramp. But alas no Stars here. As a consolation draught beer is $1.00 a glass and bottle beer at $2.00 a bottle. There's a BBQ available for use and a kitchen in the clubhouse. Manager Tim was very helpful, making sure that we had everything we needed. A must visit if you are in the area.
We walked directly into town today. Had we walked this way first and not gone to the discount marine store, Belinda would have had a much different impression of Sandusky. We walked along the waterfront to the the fish sandwich and bait shop. Bait is around back. We had perch sandwiches for lunch. I had perch and Belinda had walleye and a side of fries. Worth the walk in.
The white light over the nav station was not working. I had a spare bulb and changed the bulb. I kept saying that I needed a new bulb and would check before going to the marine store. Three stores later I found a spare bulb in my spares and did not need to go to the marine store. But that did not stop us from going to the West Marine here.
We did some cleaning this morning. Life lines needed cleaning and the stainless bows supporting the bimini and dodger needed cleaning to remove the tape residue from storage. Belinda demolished a Mr. Clean pad so we needed more to clean the life lines on the other side of the boat.
Off to Kelley's Island tomorrow. Lake Erie's largest US island.
